OUR PEOPLE

Kyrone Sammy

Kyrone Sammy is a Crown Court Paralegal within the IBB Criminal Defence team, bringing over six years of legal experience and a well-rounded foundation in criminal law. He is a CILEX-qualified legal professional and holds a Master ‘s degree in Law and Legal Practice. Kyrone provides end-to-end support to clients throughout the criminal justice process — from initial instruction at the police station through to trial preparation and sentencing.

Kyrone has substantial experience in the Crown Court, having clerked on numerous trials over a three-year period. He has developed a deep understanding of managing complex and serious criminal cases and has cultivated strong professional relationships with leading and award-winning members of the Bar, many of whom he now regularly instructs.

He also has extensive experience in the Magistrates ‘ Court, where he acted as an advocate specifically in cases involving motoring offences and allegations of domestic violence.

As a Probationary Police Station Legal Representative, Kyrone plays a key role at the earliest stage of proceedings. He is well-versed in PACE (Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984) and consistently applies his knowledge to advance his clients ‘ rights during police interviews. Known for his meticulous case preparation, organisation, and strategic insight, Kyrone is committed to delivering a high standard of legal support with a strong client-focused approach.

Kyrone has experience assisting in a broad range of criminal matters, including motoring offences, burglary, high-value robbery, sexual offences, drug-related offences, and serious violent crime. He is committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for his clients and is a strong advocate for fairness, integrity, and diversity within the criminal justice system. Kyrone is particularly passionate about supporting individuals from marginalised communities who are facing criminal proceedings, recognising the unique challenges they often encounter. He places great importance on safeguarding their rights during what is often a highly vulnerable and uncertain time. Central to his approach is building trust and maintaining clear, compassionate communication, which he considers essential to effective legal representation.

Notable Cases:

R v B 2025 – A complex case involving allegations of stalking with violence, two counts of assault, and controlling and coercive behaviour over a six-month period. Kyrone drafted detailed written representations to the prosecution, resulting in a significant reduction of the charges to a single count of stalking.

R v P 2025 – A case concerning a night-time burglary by a defendant classified as a ‘third strike ‘ burglar, facing a mandatory minimum sentence of three years. Kyrone assisted in litigation noting that the burgled annex was not a legally defined dwelling due to it being uninhabitable. He also drafted representations to have a resisting arrest charge dropped in the interests of justice. As a result, the defendant avoided the mandatory sentence and received a term that allowed for immediate release.

R v T 2025 – A burglary case built solely on circumstantial evidence. Kyrone commissioned a cell site analysis report to challenge the prosecution ‘s timeline. The expert evidence demonstrated that the defendant was merely passing through the area and not stationary, as alleged. With this knowledge, a successful half-time submission was made on the basis that there was no case to answer, leading to the defendant ‘s acquittal.

R v H 2025 – A matter involving serious breaches of two suspended sentence orders within a three-month period, alongside a poor record for dangerous driving. Kyrone ‘s involvement in litigation contributed to the defendant receiving a total sentence of only eight months ‘ imprisonment — well below typical sentencing guidelines for such breaches.
