OUR PEOPLE

Glyn Lloyd

Having started his career in law in the Magistrates Court service Glyn qualified as a solicitor in 1983 and went into private practice. He specialised exclusively in criminal law, originally working both in the field of criminal prosecution and defence. His knowledge and experience he gained as a prosecutor also became extremely invaluable when working in defence.

Glyn became a court duty solicitor and joined the newly formed 24-hour Police Station Duty Solicitor scheme when it was implemented and was involved in the duty solicitor selection process to vet those applying to join the scheme.

Glyn was a Partner in a firm in West London and in 1991 he joined forces with Joanna Brennand, who is also a consultant solicitor with IBB Crime with HAL solicitors, and together they ran a successful firm in the West London area specialising in criminal defence for over 20 years. He also provided training and guidance to many trainees who have since gone on to forge their own successful careers.

During the past 40+ years Glyn has been steadfastly defending client’s interests representing them at police stations and Magistrates Courts, and preparing cases for Crown Court hearings and trials.

He has represented numerous clients for criminal matters ranging from murder, serious and sexual assaults, armed robberies, drugs importation and supply matters through to serious and complex fraud and road traffic matters.

Throughout his career Glyn has always been committed to providing each client with the highest level of service whatever the nature of the crime that client is facing.

Glyn has been a consultant solicitor with IBB since 2020.

Notable cases

R v AC - Client charged with murder in an investigation which included a timed run by police officers to show whether the Defendant could have been at the scene of the murder at a certain time. Glyn established that the Defendant could not have been at the place it was believed the murder had taken place at the time it was alleged he would have done so. The client was acquitted of murder.

R v AB - Represented a Defendant charged with public order offences, which would appear on the face of it to be made out on CCTV. Following negotiations with the Crown, Glyn persuaded them to discontinue the case and therefore preserve the client’s good character.

Police v MC - Client arrested and interviewed for threats to kill and possession of a bladed article. Police had sufficient evidence for a charge but following further interviews, Glyn managed to negotiate with the police who reluctantly agreed to offer the client a caution.

Police v AM - Client arrested for persistently making use of the public communication network to cause annoyance. Despite admitting that she made the calls and the police wanting to seize her phone and bail her to make further enquiries, Glyn managed to persuade the police to take no further action, and she was released with her phone.
